In Key Stage 1 (KS1) we follow the Pearson Edexcel iPrimary International Curriculum to teach English, Maths and Science. This international curriculum is designed specifically for non-native speakers of English who are studying the majority of their curriculum in English.
For our non-core subjects (History, Geography, Art, Technology and Design, Music and Computing) we follow the National Curriculum objectives taught through topics that are both engaging and purposeful to our students. Our unique setting within an international community allows for some adaptations to offer a creative and meaningful curriculum.
The curriculum in Key Stage One classes aims to;
- Encourage independence and a sense of responsibility
- Foster spiritual and moral growth
- Develop language and reasoning skills
- Provide positive learning experiences
- Promote creative and critical thinking
- Instill respect and acceptance of others
A brief overview of the curriculum is published at the beginning of each half term and parents are also informed of what they are learning in core subjects on a weekly basis through Class Dojo.
The curriculum is enhanced by trips within the local community of Doha, with visitors coming to our school and also special events held within the school.
